Rebuilding SEO for OCA — SEO Portfolio

The first thing that I notice when I joined OCA was its SEO was not in a good shape. They just migrated their website into a new one without taking note of the SEO. It’s okay because now they have me!

OCA is a company that provides its user a platform to perform omnichannel communication for marketing and CMS tools for customer support. As a digital marketer or someone who get used to digital technologies this is not a new thing. But the market ain’t say so.

Proven for having a strong offline effort to gain enterprise users, now OCA must prove its capabilities to gain users from digital. That is also my challenge as one of them in the digital marketing team.

The goal is to increase OCA’s searchability in Google. That is a lot of tasks for me. I must build an entirely new SEO effort and work together with the Design team and communicating with the development team.

This is the story of how I share my SEO knowledge and work with other teams to rebuild SEO for OCA.

Tools

I decide to use tools that work fast, give me the best results, and allow me to work with the development team. So these are the tools that I use: Ahrefs, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Ads Word, SEOquake, and AnswerThePublic. To work with technical SEO I use Ahrefs and Lighthouse DevTools.

The Gameplay

Before OCA do another website revamp, I was asked to auditing their on-page SEO. Well, I found a lot of problems. Their website was not SEO-friendly. From that input, I start the work.

After that, the keyword research. This is challenging for me because OCA’s niche is quite broad and not a common one in Indonesia. So, I use ‘omnichannel communication’, ‘blast’, and ‘CRM’ as the base.

I’m involved in their website revamp and responsible for all the writing. So, I must juggle SEO-friendly yet user-friendly copy at the same time. This is good because now I have the control to infuse the best SEO copy while still making the readers understand the technical terms.

While doing the website revamp, I was also mapping their Information Architecture and headings. This is a very helpful step because the front-end designer can code the website in line with the SEO.

I pay close attention to the technical SEO and develop a work frame to manage and record the progress. This way I can work with the front-end hand-in-hand.

The Result

The first result is the new website build with SEO inside. A month after the revamp launched, OCA manage to be ranked for a few new keywords and ranked higher for the existing keywords. This is a piece of great news because we can see that the base for SEO is good.

In order to be a more SEO-friendly website, I work together with the front-end to gradually solving some issues in the technical SEO. Learning technical SEO and javascript is one of the best things that I did because I can provide solutions for technical problems.
